I got tired of having to split my phone
line between computer use, and taking calls, but the thought
of a second phone line just frustrated me. I also hate getting
telemarketing calls. I basically couldn't afford to spend more
money on another phone line.
I also wanted to know who was calling so that I wouldn't miss
important phone calls when I was online. Luckily, I've been
researching services that let you see who's calling while you're
online, and either answer the call, forward it to a cell phone,
or send it to voicemail.
I thought I'd share my experiences with the rest of the Internet
about call alerts!
Ask the Review Guy (that's me)! I'm using a patent-not-quite-pending
HOT PEPPER system of ranking Internet Call Alert and voicemail
services. (It's a hot technology, so it made sense to me!)
An example of call alert ratings using
the hot pepper system:
= where's the flavor? =
mild
= getting warmer
= spicy!
= MUY CALIENTE!
I also look at the costs of each Internet Call Alert service,
which features each call alert provider offers, and also I give
you my personal thoughts on each. I recommend you spend the
time and read through the information I've collected, since
not all Internet Call Alerts are created equal -- and if you're
like me, you want to get the most bang for your buck.
I also looked at the free call alert services. Even though they
don't have as many features as the paid ones, free Internet
Caller ID is going to be useful for some people -- and you can't
argue with the price! :-)
While I think I did a good job reviewing these Internet Caller
ID and Call Alert products, you might have conclusions of your
own to share. That's why we made our "Share Your Online Call
Alert Experience" section -- be sure to check it out, and let
everyone know what you think and recommend.
For the Internet newcomer, I also created some pages describing
how Internet Call Alerts work, and going into detail on why
you should consider using Call Alerts or Internet answering
machines.
I hope this helps you better manage having a single phone line
that you use for both calls and for the Internet.
