Once I began exploring online call alerts
and notifications, I learned a lot about tools that
do more than just tell you when someone is trying to
call you when you're online. In fact, you never have
to miss an important phone call when you use a call
alert service, and they work like caller id too. For
instance, some of these tools are full-fledged Internet
voicemail services, so you can get rid of your answering
machine or the voicemail service you got from your telephone
call and replace it with something more advanced.

I got interested in Call Alerts for one very
simple reason: No one could ever reach me! Whenever
I (or a family member) was on the computer, no one could
get through to me on the phone because they would get
a busy signal.
|
But it's also important to know that these
services can really change your lifestyle. For instance,
if you run a home business, and are on the road, it
becomes a cinch to get notified of new messages -- since
some of these services can shoot you an e-mail. And
you can listen to your messages over the Web, which
means that you don't have to spend money on long-distance
charges if you have Internet access.

Ask the Review Guy (that's me)! I'm using
a patent-not-quite-pending HOT PEPPER system of ranking
Internet Call Alert and voicemail services. (It's a
hot technology, so it made sense to me!)

Of course, all these features come at different
prices, so I make sure I explain all of the different
pricing models to you. Oh, and I also list any "hidden"
fees -- like the fees you'll have to pay to your local
telephone company to turn on Busy Call Forwarding, which
many of these products depend on.

I looked at a number of features to create
this grid. Basically, to decide on the right Internet
call alert or online caller id service, you need to
know which caller alert services are available, how
much each service costs, and which features each has.
Here I list ten services from some of the major folks
in Internet Call Alerts and Internet answering machines.
This also includes free call alerts services which might
fit the bill, but lack a number of the important enhancements
of paid plans that could make your life even easier
by turning one phone line into two.

These companies offer free Internet Call
Alerts -- so you can receive notifications if someone
calls you while you're online. Never miss a call again
because you or a family member is on the Internet!
|
It's actually pretty amazing what these technologies can
do. The best part might be that some of them are even
free! Of course, you usually get what you pay for, but
then again, you might be looking for basic functionality
-- so check out our roundup of free Internet Caller ID
services.
And when you make a decision, be sure to come back and
let me know your thoughts on online call alerts.
